Handwriting Without Tears Tutoring

You have a smart, creative child but somehow his or her grades just don’t reflect that and part of the problem is handwriting. Handwriting is very difficult for your child and this causes a defiance and even meltdowns.  Its almost like your child has given up on being able to write in a clear way.  You see letters that go from small to large and back again or sentences with no spaces between the words or worst just scribbles on the page because he or she just refused to do the assignment at all.

You know the teacher is working with your child, and you have tried at home during homework time as well, but no matter what anyone does your child’s confidence seems to have left the building. Tutoring is typically more about learning how to express yourself rather than focusing on penmanship itself.

What your child needs is a comprehensive handwriting program that teaches the basics in an order that begins with easier letters first then progresses to the letters that are prone to reversals or have diagonal lines.  By utilizing this specific developmental sequence, children will gain mastery and confidence faster. You need a program that will help your child to write confidently, so he or she can begin to focus on the content and not just the formation of the words.

Introducing Handwriting Without Tears Tutoring

This multi-sensory program was developed specifically to help children to develop good handwriting in a fun and engaging way.  These 1/2 hour sessions  will help your child take apart each letter and see the easy components. The specially designed tools help to develop each skill and the special paper will help to guide your child to write clearly and cleanly.

The program helps children to:

  • Improve pencil grip and body awareness skills
  • Develop consistent habits for letter formation from printing to cursive
  • Build confidence
  • Have fun!

Each child will be assessed for their current handwriting skill level, and the sessions will focus on the needs of the student.

It’s comfortable here

The class takes place on the second floor of a residential home. This room is set up specifically with comfy couches, chairs, and cushions so that your child will be comfortable and at home. We have an art area, a quiet area, and a class room space.
